Sidebars are a fundamental part of many WordPress websites, and the Blocksy theme offers flexible options for managing them. However, users sometimes encounter problems with sidebar display, styling, and configuration. 1. Sidebar Not Showing on Specific Pages

Problem: Your sidebar appears on some pages (like the homepage) but not on others (like single posts or pages).

Solution: Blocksy allows you to control sidebar visibility on different page types. Navigate to Appearance → Customize and look for the settings for your specific content type:

  • For Blog Posts: Go to Blog Posts → Single Post and ensure a layout with a sidebar is selected (e.g., Style 4 under "General").
  • For Pages: Go to Pages → Sidebar to enable and position the sidebar.
  • For per-page control: Edit the individual page or post, and look for the Blocksy settings meta box (usually below the content editor) to override global sidebar settings.

2. Sidebar Lacks Styling or Appears "Unconfigured"

Problem: The sidebar area is visible but doesn't display the expected styling, such as borders, spacing, or active links, even though the widgets look correct in the admin area.

Solution: This is often caused by one of two issues:

  • Caching Conflicts: If you are running multiple caching solutions, they can conflict and serve outdated styles. Try clearing all your caches thoroughly (plugin, server, and browser cache).
  • Custom CSS: Custom CSS added to your site can sometimes break the theme's default styling. Temporarily disable any custom CSS to see if it resolves the issue. If it does, review your code for errors.

3. Sidebar Positioned Incorrectly (e.g., Below Content)

Problem: The sidebar appears below the main content on desktop instead of beside it.

Solution: This is almost always a caching issue. The theme's CSS grid layout rules are not being loaded correctly. Clear all caching mechanisms on your site (caching plugins, CDN, server-side cache, and browser cache). Using multiple caching plugins is not recommended, as it can cause such conflicts.

  1. Check Widgets: Ensure your sidebar is populated with widgets in Appearance → Widgets. An empty sidebar will appear as a blank box.
  2. Conflict Test: Temporarily disable all plugins except Blocksy Companion (if used) to see if a plugin conflict is causing the problem. If the issue resolves, reactivate your plugins one by one to identify the culprit.
  3. Clear Caches: Always clear all types of cache after making changes to your site's layout or design.
